When IT enthusiasts—including the management team—fly to Portugal for five days, it’s all about living out what defines us at PROTOS every single day: first-class work for our clients and a way of interacting that works just as well outside of Microsoft Teams calls.

Monday: Arrival & Anticipation

Monday: Arrival & Anticipation

Almost the entire team headed off to Portugal, where we were met by the management team right at the airport in Lisbon. After arriving, we made our way straight into the city for a convivial dinner at the renowned Time Out Market. The first highlight came on the return journey: illuminated by the night lights, we passed the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge and the Cristo Rei statue before reaching our home for the week. Our *quinta*—a traditional Portuguese country house—proved to be the perfect retreat: surrounded by lush, rural greenery and offering complete tranquility, it was the ideal place to catch our breath after the journey.

Tuesday: Focus on the project, finding balance by the Atlantic

Tuesday: Focus on the project, finding balance by the Atlantic

Anyone who thinks an offsite means taking a break from projects clearly doesn’t know our team (yet). Tuesday began with our usual focus: laptops open, remote environments up and running, and full dedication to our clients—delivering the same high quality you’ve come to expect from us.

In the afternoon, the group split up: some headed to a local winery for a tasting, while others took to the waves of the Atlantic to try their hand at surfing. By evening, everyone reunited back at the Quinta. The highlight? The team’s “wine connoisseurs” had already prepared fresh pasta, sauces, and pesto for their surf-weary colleagues. It was the perfect, relaxed way to end the day.

Wednesday: Professional exchange & a legendary return journey

Wednesday: Professional exchange & a legendary return journey

Precisely because many working relationships at PROTOS take place virtually on a day-to-day basis, Wednesday proved to be a real asset. Alongside regular project work, there was a strong focus on the direct exchange of experience: which approaches proved successful in specific projects? Where did challenges arise? And, above all, how can we learn from one another?

In the afternoon, we headed to Lisbon’s old town for a short tour of the city. The return trip to the Quinta is sure to remain a vivid memory for everyone, as our driver had a real knack for playing the best disco hits. We wrapped up the day with a group barbecue, featuring a variety of dishes—from meat to vegetables—prepared on the grill or in the oven.

Thursday: A special honor & towering waves

Thursday: A special honor & towering waves

Thursday began with news that made us incredibly proud: PROTOS was officially named one of the „Beste IT-Dienstleister 2027“ (Best IT Service Providers 2027) by our clients and partners! In a nationwide German survey with over 5,000 participants, we ranked among the top 258 companies—earning top marks in the category of Cloud & Modern Infrastructure (5 out of 5 stars), as well as a strong 4 out of 5 stars in both Cybersecurity & Compliance and Consulting.

After taking a team photo with the award, we headed back to our projects—and later in the afternoon, we made our way to the Atlantic coast, where the towering waves really put the team to the test. The evening was filled with long conversations: anecdotes from various projects, personal stories, and, as always, a healthy dose of humor.

Friday: Reflection and Departure

Friday: Reflection and Departure

After one final breakfast together and the customary check of their inboxes, it was time to say goodbye. Laden with new impressions, a strengthened sense of togetherness, and in high spirits, the group headed back to the airport and made their way home to Germany.

What remains after a week like this?

An offsite like this one consistently reveals what holds PROTOS together at its core. It’s more than just a passion for the cloud, cybersecurity, and sound architecture. It’s a combination of expertise, intellectual curiosity, pragmatism, and—above all—the people who give their best here every single day.

We’ve demonstrated that a total focus on the client and a vibrant team culture are not mutually exclusive; rather, they reinforce one another.

Are you interested in challenging IT projects and being part of a team where professional exchange, mutual support, and a sense of humor are simply second nature?

We’re continuing to grow and are always looking for bright minds who are a great fit for our team.
