PROTOS Technology is taking the next step in the development of its digital platform: Together with Webiny, the existing website infrastructure has been fundamentally modernized and migrated to a scalable, serverless architecture on AWS.
By choosing Webiny as its headless CMS, PROTOS is simultaneously expanding a strategic partnership to provide even more targeted support to customers in implementing modern content and platform architectures.
In the corporate and upper mid-market environment, the demands on digital platforms are increasing significantly:
- Content must be delivered across all channels (web, app, portals)
- Systems must be flexibly integrable and API-first
- Scalability and performance are becoming business-critical
Classic, monolithic CMS approaches are increasingly reaching their limits. Headless architectures, on the other hand, make it possible to clearly decouple content, frontend, and backend, thus achieving significantly greater flexibility and future-proofing.
Against this backdrop, PROTOS has decided to completely replace its existing WordPress-based CMS.
The new website has been live since April 2026 – based on a combination of Webiny and AWS technologies.
Goals and results of the transformation:
- Significantly higher performance and scalability
- Modular separation of content, presentation layer, and backend
- Flexible extensibility for future use cases without the dependencies of traditional plugin systems
- Foundation for multi-channel strategies
- Seamless coverage of future and customized security requirements
This makes the platform a concrete example of implementing modern, cloud-native web architectures in an enterprise context.
Technical Implementation and Quality Assurance
The technical implementation of the new platform is consistently based on the serverless paradigm within the AWS infrastructure. The use of managed AWS services achieves native scalability, handling peak loads without performance degradation.
The Well-Architected Framework (WAF) was consistently applied throughout the implementation, with particular emphasis placed on the security pillar. Fine-grained access control and consistently encrypted data flows within AWS resulted in a level of security that significantly exceeds the requirements of traditional CMS solutions.
The choice of a headless architecture proved to be the decisive factor in the development process: The clean decoupling of systems enabled the team to seamlessly integrate AI-powered methods and massively parallelized, automated testing procedures into the development pipeline. This combination of a flexible API-first architecture and modern, automated quality assurance significantly shortens deployment cycles, ensures above-average system speed, and minimizes the error rate during continuous updates.
Intelligent Delivery through Incremental Static Regeneration and Edge Caching
The platform utilizes a hybrid rendering model: Pages are pre-rendered server-side (SSR) and then incrementally updated via Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR) – without a full rebuild. Editorial changes in the CMS trigger a targeted revalidation of the affected pages and go live within seconds. Delivery is handled via Amazon CloudFront as a global Content Delivery Network, which caches static and dynamic content directly at the edge. The result: Load times in the low millisecond range with consistently up-to-date content – without compromising performance or timeliness.
Automation and Framework-Based Documentation
The transformation follows a clear methodological framework for implementation and operation, making the entire project process reproducible and highly efficient. Instead of subsequent, manual reports, we rely on automated documentation of the cloud structures. The result is standardized deployment that guarantees maximum transparency. This ability to deliver complex cloud architectures repeatedly and flawlessly ensures direct knowledge transfer and dramatically accelerates future customer projects.
Partnership with Webiny
PROTOS collaborates closely with Webiny as part of this partnership – both technologically and conceptually.
The focus is on:
- Consulting on architecture and best practices in enterprise environments
- Further development of solutions for complex platform landscapes
- Building expertise for the targeted use of headless CMS in customer projects
Through this collaboration, PROTOS is strategically strengthening its expertise in modern content and platform architectures.
